Acquired in Portland, Oregon, at some point in the early 2000s.

The previous owner — who may be Mr. Robuca or possibly Mr. Roberts. We’re not sure, his handwriting is a little messy — was clearly not a casual Prince fan. Notice how he used used “2” instead of “two.” Nobody does that if they only like one or two Prince songs.

Also, a curious clue. On the lyrics printed on the inner sleeves, Mr. R underlined just one line — “A hundred percent Italian silk, imported Egyptian lace” — from the song “Adore.” What does this mean? Why this lyric in particular? Out of context, it doesn’t make any sense. It’s not an especially romantic quote. By itself, it’s almost meaningless. Unless it’s supposed to be some sort of shopping list. “Don’t forget the Italian silk and Egyptian lace.”

Are you okay, Mr. R? Are you still a man of exquisite taste? What do you want with all that silk and lace anyway? We really want 2 know.
